For many children, entering our Preschool classroom is their first school experience. Our mission is for each child to have a preschool experience that builds self-confidence, to make new friends, to grow socially and developmentally, to create create happy memories of school, and to experience a transformative life with Jesus Christ as their Savior and friend.
Our classroom is a warm, Christ-centered environment firmly believing that each child is a unique and special gift from God. It provides a nurturing atmosphere in which the young child feels valued, respected, and loved. Through developmentally appropriate practice, we guide each child to reach their full potential to become self-reliant, confident, curious, and enthusiastic life-long learners. Throughout the school year we work on language and vocabulary development, imagination and creativity, problem-solving and self-regulation, gross and fine motor development, social and interpersonal skills, and so much more that provides the foundation for later success in early primary grades.
Each grade at Messiah studies one of the fruits of the spirit. A special project is created and kept until the end of eighth grade when each student receives a portfolio of all the fruits of the spirit that they have studied throughout their education at Messiah. It is priceless!
For this age and developmental stage, we have many different “onsite” field trips. Many community helpers visit the classroom to share their expertise with the children including firefighters, health care workers, librarians, farmers, and others.
I feel so blessed to be a part of and witness this wonderful stage of development. Preschoolers are like “open books” and knowing that I am helping them through the first few chapters is so rewarding! Seeing the joy and enthusiasm through their eyes as they experience something new or overcome an obstacle is amazing! I love that each day is an adventure where God helps me to discover something new about each child.
