Hello! My name is Kelly Otis and I am incredibly excited to be teaching Kindergarten at Messiah! I grew up in Ohio where I met my wonderful husband, Jim. I attended The Ohio State University where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Human Ecology degree and went on to earn my Master of Education in Early Childhood degree. I love to read, write, bake, walk, play with my kids, and watch Ohio State football. In 2005 I started teaching kindergarten in Columbus, Ohio. I continued to teach kindergarten after moving to St. Louis in 2007. I taught in the Fort Zumwalt School District for several years and then I chose to stay home when I was blessed with having two amazing children. The years of being a stay at home mom taught me so much and has helped me be an even better teacher. I have a special place in my heart for Kindergarten! The learning and growth that happens over the year is incredible to watch and I love the conversations I have with the children. I love teaching the kids to read and write, and I love watching the children learn through hands-on activities. It is such a fun age and I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to work at such a great school and with so many wonderful families. I feel it is a privilege and honor to be working with the amazing team at Messiah. Messiah is a very special place where children love coming each day and where they feel the love of Jesus every day. Messiah feels like one big family. I thank God that my family found Messiah Lutheran Church and School and I am thrilled to be able to teach children about how much Jesus loves them!
