Being the oldest grade in the school comes much responsibility and leadership that is demonstrated through service and flexibility. The 8th Graders are commonly asked to perform tasks that are behind the scenes and also up in front. Whenever they are asked to assist they do so cheerfully and with such pride in their school. The 8th Grade year is their chance to put their mark on Messiah and how they want to be remembered by the other students, teachers, and community.
Leadership, Spiritual Growth, and Self Awareness are three of the typical areas that students grow in 8th Grade. It is always great to see the leadership action grow in 8th Grade, in the first two years of middle school the potential is always there and growing but by 8th grade it seem to blossom. Spiritual growth occurs through Confirmation, Bible Study, and Devotions during this year in school. Another development area that grows during this year is Self Awareness where students believe in who they are, know that God created them with certain gifts and talents, and that everyone is different and contributes to the community at large.

“The ability to see them grow and mature before sending them off to High School. I also love giving them the tools needed to have success at the next level and knowing that God has a plan for them as they leave this safe, loving, and nurturing environment.
