Kindergarten is full of joy and hands-on activities! We use Fountas and Pinnell phonics and guided reading to build a solid literacy foundation. Our math curriculum engages children in games and tactile activities. We take an annual trip to the pumpkin patch and have weekly mystery readers which brings lots of excitement. The love of learning and growth in kindergarten is amazing!
In kindergarten we are really working on the basics of reading. We are working on letter recognition, sounds, and the blending of sounds. We learn many sight words throughout the year and the students put all of this to use as they begin to sound our words and read sentences. We also working on counting, number recognition, shapes and patterns.
Socially and emotionally we are learning to use our words to resolve issues and learning to get along with friends. We are also learning to work independently in many areas. We enjoy. Jesus stories and applying them to our lives.
