In 2nd grade we love to learn and have fun during the process! 2nd graders love Top Banana, D.E.A.R (Drop Everything and Read), Colonial Day, Home Tasks, cursive, multiplication, and reviewing for tests with games and earning shots on the basketball hoop!
2nd graders take their strong 1st grade foundation of phonics, reading and writing and take it to the next level! They learn to pre-write and then turn their thoughts into complete sentences. This builds into topic sentences and paragraphs and even leads to three paragraph essay by the end of the year. They love to read chapter books and we find that they are always up for a challenge!
2nd graders fine motor skills are challenged and they are excited to put their best effort and concentration into cursive handwriting.
Socially and emotionally, they continue to develop in the task of putting others before themselves. They understand God’s love for them and they want to share that with others!
Thies Farm and Pumpkin Patch, Target (Christmas shopping for Foster Children), Attending a musical, Colonial Day (in house) and Breeze Park (Delivering cards and singing for residents at the nursing home).
We love teaching 2nd grade because of the love that the children have for learning, teachers, students and their school!
