Leadership development at all ages

At Messiah Lutheran School, your child is more than just a number.

We know that no two students learn in the exact same way, so we are intentional about providing different learning opportunities as a regular part of the classroom. With techniques like exploratory teaching, technology devices, manipulatives, small group learning structures, and indirect instruction, your child will have the opportunity to learn in the way they relate to best.

Does your student have a unique learning style that requires extra attention?

Some students struggle while others exceed expectations. If your child needs a modification to what is planned in their class, we can work with you and our local partners to provide the expertise and attention your student deserves.

Not only will your student be prepared academically, but they will also know God loves them and has a purpose for their life.

Messiah is a Christian school and our faith is woven through everything we do. From chapel services, serving opportunities, classroom discussions, and field trips, your student will grow in their relationship with God. They will know who God is, how much He loves them, and that He will always be with them.

MLS Lions Athletics

Success doesn’t just happen in the classroom.

Part of developing the whole person is developing outside the classroom as well. At Messiah, we offer a variety of athletic teams for your child to be a part of throughout the year.

Our goal in athletics is to provide your student with the chance to use their God-given abilities so they can:

  • walk with Christ as they enjoy competition,
  • develop a strong work ethic, self-discipline, and good sportsmanship,
  • learn what healthy competition looks like,
  • become a good teammate,
  • establish productive habits that lead to personal health and success as they get older.

Student Leadership & Development

Your student will develop into the leader they were created to be.

Our student development and leadership opportunities help establish a solid work ethic, sense of commitment, and positive self-esteem in your student from a young age.

Faith & Service

Our faith is at the center of what we do. Through weekly chapel services and Biblically- integrated classes, your student will know above all things how much God loves them. In addition to that knowledge, they’ll grow in their faith through serving opportunities with local and global partners.

Academic Bowl

Students (7-8th Grade) are able to participate in the Academic Quiz Bowl and compete with other area schools. Practice begins in early fall with competitions through the fall and winter. At the end of the season, top players are able to compete at the State competition.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)

FCA allows middle school students to unite two of their passions: faith and sports. This is a unique opportunity for our student athletes to learn how they can use their talents on the field to make an impact for Jesus throughout the world. FCA meetings are held before school once per month.

Robotics

Technology is a huge part of our culture. The Messiah Robotics teams allow 5-8th grade students to explore STEM learning and exploration while also competing against other area students.

Student Council

We believe in developing leaders from a young age. Our Student Council is a group of student leaders in 7th and 8th grade who focus on boosting school morale, leading school-wide service projects, and making positive changes that benefit their fellow classmates.

Yearbook

Creativity is cultivated through our yearbook team. Students in 7th and 8th grade are responsible for the creation, formatting, design, and photography for the school yearbook each year. They meet twice each month from September to May.

Fine Arts

God created your student to be creative.

Creativity looks different in every student. That’s why we provide multiple opportunities for your child to develop and express their God-given creativity.

Art Class

Every student deserves the opportunity to discover their creativeness. We provide that chance in grades K-8th as our students learn art history and explore their creativity through art class where they will work with clay, paint, plaster, ink, and wire using a range of techniques.

Drama

Drama isn’t just about acting – it’s about being comfortable in your own skin in front of an audience. Each grade level leads chapel once each year with skits and songs. Preschool and K-2nd students put on a yearly Christmas program while grades 3-8th do spring musicals.

Music

Music is a key component in learning. Whether it’s learning the math that goes along with a song or creating catchy tunes to memorize information, music is woven through our classrooms. Grades K-5th regularly attend a music education class.

Strings

We offer a string orchestra for grades 3-8th. Your student will be given small group lessons each Tuesday afternoon during school. The cost is $180/student. If you have any questions, please contact the school office at School@MLSLions.org.

Talent Show

Our students have incredible talents that are too good to keep to themselves. Each spring, the K-8th students showcase those talents in our annual spring talent show. We’ve had everything from comedy to singing, dancing to jump roping. Whatever your child’s talent, they can display it in the talent show.

Fun matters at Messiah.

Your kids will love coming to school every day. We balance hard work and character development with exciting activities that create core memories for our students.

Do you offer any before or after school childcare options?

Yes! Our Admissions page has the most up-to-date information about our extended care services including pricing and times available.

Do you offer sports or other extracurriculars?

We believe in developing the full student and that includes doing things outside of typical classwork. At Messiah, we offer Boys and Girls Scouts, musical productions, and sports leagues for Soccer, Cross-Country, Track, Basketball, Volleyball, and Cheerleading. Our music programs include Praise Team (vocal), guitar, band, strings, and piano.

Are you funded by Messiah Lutheran Church?

We are supported in part through fundraising and contributions from the Church but the large majority of our annual income is from student fees and tuition.

If my child attends, am I required to join Messiah Lutheran Church?

Not at all! Our goal is to support families in their walk of faith by providing Christ-centered education. When necessary, we can be a primary source for faith development of students. If you have a church home – great! If you don’t, we’d certainly love for you to join us in worship but it is not a requirement to attend the school. Learn more about our church at messiahstcharles.org.

Could I talk to other parents of Messiah students to hear about their experience with the school?

Absolutely! We have a list of parents and their contact info at the school office. You can call us at 636-329-1096 or email School@MLSLions.org to get that list.
